Water Valve

Whirlpool made direct drive washers

A bad water valve could be the cause why your Whirlpool washer is not filling the tub with water.

The washer may not be filling at all or not filling with cold water or not filling with hot water.

In order for your Whirlpool made direct drive washer to be able to fill properly with water, the water need to be able to enter the tub properly.

So the first thing you need to check and make sure is that the water faucets are opened.

You be surprise of the many times I have gone to a house to service a washer that is not filling properly and find out that problem was that someone has turn the faucets off and forgot to turn them on.

The next thing you need to do is to turn the water faucets off and disconnect the washer fill hoses from behind the washer. Put them pointing to the washer tub or to a sink.

Turn the water faucets and see if the water is coming out of the hoses with good pressure.

If the water pressure is good, then you know that the problem has to be in the washer water mixing valve

Calling a repair company to check and repair the washer could be very expensive. Let me show you about how much could be the cost of replacing the water mixing valve in your washer.

You will have to pay a service call to come to your house and check the washer and that could be from $70 to $100.

If the problem is a mixing valve the cost for a replacement could be between  $15 to $60.

Then you have to pay for the labor to replace it and that could from $60 to $90 an hour with a minimum of 1 hour.

Plus you have to wait in your house until the repairman could get there to do the repair.

The total cost could be about $230 for a repair that you could very easy do it yourself for just $60 the price of the part.
