Tub Bearing
Maytag Original Top Load Washer

If your Maytag washer sounds like tractor when is on the spin cycle and is leaking water from the neck of the transmission, the problem could be a bad tub bearing.

The tub bearing has two parts. A rubber and metal piece that is inserted in the center of the tub, and a metal sleeve that goes through the center of the bearing.

When the stem and seal develop a water leak, the water leaks through the tub bearing.

If the leak is not corrected, the metal sleeve on the tub bearing gets rusted and wears out causing the washer to get noisier the longer you use it.
