Performa by Maytag Electric Dryer

If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is that is not heating at all in any of the cycles. The problem could be a bad cycling or operating thermostat.

The cycling or operating thermostat is use to control the temperature inside of the tumbler. The contacts inside of this thermostat supposed to stay close to keep the heating element heating until the temperature inside of the tumbler reaches about 155 degrees, then the contacts open to stop the heat from rising above 155 degrees.

When the temperature inside of the drum drops down to about 135 degrees the contacts inside of the thermostat close and the electricity flows again through the heating element and the element starts getting hot again.

The cycling thermostat will do that as many times as are need to complete the drying cycle.
