Thermal Cut Out Fuse

Performa by Maytag Electric Dryer

If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is that is not starting in any of the cycles, in other words the dryer is dead. The problem could be a blown thermal cut out fuse.

This thermal cut out fuse is used as safety device. It is located on the outside of the heating element housing.

This fuse will blow if the temperature inside of the heating element box gets too hot because the air inside of the dryer is not circulating in and out of the dryer.

So if the thermal fuse blows, you will need to check the airflow from the inside of the dryer to the outside of the house to see if it is restricted before replacing the fuse.
