If the problem with your Whirlpool 27 inch electric dryer is that is not starting in any of the cycles, in other words the dryer is dead. The problem could be a bad start switch.
The start switch is a temporary switch on the motor circuit used to start the motor. Once the motor is running, the switch is out of the circuit until the motor stops running.
There are two different types of start switches. The single pole single throw switch, and the solenoid controlled switch.
When you set the dryer on a cycle and you press the start switch, the dryer motor starts running. You could press the switch, but the switch won’t do anything until the motor stops running.
