Start Switch

Performa by Maytag Electric Dryer

If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is that is not starting in any of the cycles, in other words the dryer is dead. The problem could be a bad start switch.

The start switch is a temporary switch on the motor circuit used to start the motor. Once the motor is running, the switch is out of the circuit until the motor stops running.

When you set the dryer on a cycle and you press the start switch, the dryer motor starts running. You could press the switch, but the switch won’t do anything until the motor stops running.
