Learn How To Fix A Not Starting Performa Electric Dryer

In this not starting Performa electric dryer page you will find the videos that will show you the parts that you will need to check when your Performa electric dryer is not starting. Make sure that you watch the videos a few times until you know how to check & replace the parts.

Taking the dryer apart

The first thing that you need to learn to be able to fix your Performa dryer is how to take it apart and how to put it back together again properly. Check the video below to learn how to do that.

Voltages at the terminal block

In order for your Performa dryer to run and produce heat, the dryer has to have the right voltages at the terminal block coming from the wall outlet. Check the video below to see how to safely check the voltages at the terminal block.

The power cord

The power cord is used to bring the voltages to the terminal block. If you don't get the proper voltages at the terminal block, you will need to disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet and then check the power cord for continuity.

The high limit thermostat

The hi limit thermostat is a safety devise used to cut the electricity to the dryer if the dryer overheats. So when your dryer is not doing anything when you try to start the dryer, you should check to see if the hi limit thermostat is OK or if it is blown.

The timer start switch

The start switch in a Performa dryer is located inside of the timer assembly and when this switch is bad you will need to replace the timer assembly. Make sure to watch the not starting Performa electric dryer videos a few times until you know how to do the repair.

The door safety switch

The door safety switch is a safety device used to stop the dryer from running when the door of the dryer is open. If this switch don't close motor circuit when the door is closed then the dyer is not going to be able to run.

The timer assembly

The timer assembly is the brains of the Performa dryer. Inside of the timer assembly are many contacts that open and close according to the setting that you set on the dryer timer. After the dryer has been used for many years the contacts wear out and could stop making contact to the motor circuit preventing the dryer motor from running.

The motor

The motor is the work horse of the dryer. It is used to turn the dryer tumbler and also to complete the heating element circuit so the dryer could produce heat. Make sure to watch the not starting Performa electric dryer videos a few times until you know how to do the repair.
