Fixing a not starting Maytag gas dryer is easy if you learn what I am showing you in the following videos. Just watch the videos as many times you need until you know how to check, remove and replace any part in the starting circuit.

Please read the disclaimer page before viewing the videos

Voltage At The Wall Outlet

The first thing you need to check when your Maytag gas dryer is not starting in any of the cycles that you try it on is the voltage at the wall outlet. Watch the video below to learn how to check the voltage.

Start Switch

This switch is used to get the motor running after setting the timer in the any of the drying cycles. If this switch is bad, the dryer will not do anything until you replace it with a good working switch.

Door Switch

This is a safety device used to stop the motor from running if the door on the dryer is opened when the dryer is running in a drying cycle. If the dryer door is opened during a drying cycle the dryer will stop running and you need to close the door and press the start switch to get the dryer running again.

The Timer

This is the brain of the dryer and it is in charge of sending electricity to each of the electrical parts in the dryer that need to be working during a drying cycle. The timer has many contacts that close and open during a drying cycle. Watch the timer video to see how to check and replace it.

The Motor

The job of the motor is to turn the belt that turs the tumbler and to close the circuit of the heating element to produce the heat to dry the clothes. If the motor doesn’t run, the dryer will not do anything. Watch the video on how to check the motor to see how it is done.
