Voltages at the terminal block

The first thing that you need to check when your GE electric dryer is not starting, is the voltages at the terminal block coming from the wall outlet. This is the only test that you need to do with the dryer connected to the wall outlet. Follow the instructions in the video below to do it in a safe way.

The thermo hi limit thermostat is a safety device use to open the circuit to the motor so the motor can't run if the dryer overheat.

The start switch

This switch is used to start the dryer motor running after you set the timer on the cycle that you need to use. If this switch don't work the dryer will not start to run.

The door switch

The door switch is a safety device use to open the motor circuit and stopping the motor if the door on the dryer is open. Sometimes the contacts inside of the door switch get welded together and the dryer could run with the door open and other times the contacts burn out and the dryer will not start.
