Rear Bearing Sleeve

GE Hotpoint Electric Dryer

If the problem with your GE Hotpoint electric or gas dryer is that is making screeching or scraping noises when the dryer runs. The problem could be a worn out rear bearing teflon sleeve.

There are two parts that will cause screeching or scraping noises. The front drum bearing and the rear drum bearing. When the rear drum teflon sleeve is worn out, the dryer could start running without noises until the drum gets hot, then it will start sounding like birds chirping inside of the dryer.

If you take care of it as soon as it starts making noises you may only need to replace the rear teflon sleeve. If you let it go too long, you may need to replace the complete rear drum bearing.
