If the problem is a not starting Maytag washer, in other words the washer fills to the selected water level, the motor runs, but the washer won't agitate.

You will needs to check the following parts until you find out the part that is preventing the washer from agitating.

The wall outlet: The first thing that you need to make sure, is that there is electricity in the outlet that the washer is connected to. The easier way to do that is by disconnecting the washer from the outlet and connecting a hair dryer that you know is in good working order on the outlet.

Turn the hair dryer on. If the hair dryer works, then the problem is in the washer. If the hair dryer doesn't work, then the problem could be on the fuse or circuit breaker box or on the wall outlet.
