If your Whirlpool 29 inch electric dryer is not starting

You will need to check the following parts until you find out the part that needs to be replace to fix the dryer.

Here I am going to give you a brief description of the parts you need to check, and below you will have the links to the pages with the videos that will show you how the repair is done.

Taking the dryer part: The first thing you will need to learn to be able to easily repair your dryer is how to take it apart and how to put it back together again properly. Once you learn how to do that, the repairs will be very easy to do.

The thermal fuse: The thermal fuse is a safety device used to open the heating circuit to stop the dryer from heating if the temperature inside of the drum surpass 196 degrees Fahrenheit. The manufacturer recommends that the operating or cycling thermostat be replaced if the thermal fuse blows out.

The power cord 3 prongs: You will need to check and make sure that the power cord is in good working order. Disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet and visually check the power cord for burn wires or plug terminals.

The power cord 4 prongs: You will need to check and make sure that the power cord is in good working order. Disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet and visually check the power cord for burn wires or plug terminals.

The voltages at the terminal block: In order for the dryer to be able to start, there have to be the right voltages present at the terminal block. If you don’t have the proper voltages at the terminal block, check the wall outlet.

The start switch: If the dryer is not starting in any of the cycles, the problem could be a bad start switch. There are two different types of start switches. The single pole single throw one and the relay activated one.

The Door switch: This switch is connected in series with the motor circuit and if the door is open or the switch is bad, the dryer will not do anything in any of the cycles that you try it on.

The timer: If the contacts inside of the timer won’t close to complete the motor circuit, the dryer will not do anything in any of the cycles.

The motor checking: If the motor is not starting and won't run, the dryer is not going to do anything. The motor needs to run to turn the tumbler and to complete the heating circuit.
