If your Maytag top load washer is not spinning properly. In other words the washer fills properly, agitates properly, but is not removing the water from the washers tub.
You will need to check the following parts until you find out the part that needs to be replace to fix the washing machine.
Here I am going to give you a brief description of the parts you need to check, and below you will have the links to the pages with the videos that will show you how the repairs are done.
The belts: Loose belts could be the reason why your Maytag top load washer doesn't spin properly. To correct that problem, you will need to adjust the belts by moving the pump to your right when you are facing the pump. If the belts are worn out you should replace them with new ones.
Springs & Slides: The springs & slides are use to adjust the belt tension. There are 2 plates used to mount the motor. The motor gets bolted to the top plate and the 4 slides get install on the plate. The bottom plate has 2 tracks that the slides glide on them. The 2 springs will adjust the plates to give the belts the proper tension.
When the belts are replaced, the tracks in the motor mounting plates should be cleaned and properly grease. This way the slides could glide easily to adjust the belts.
Some times by just cleaning the motor mounting plates, greasing them and adjusting the belts you could used worn out belts and the washer works ok.
Another reason why the drum in the washer is not turning at the proper speed could be because a piece of clothing could have fallen between the drum and the tub and is holding the drum from spinning properly.
As you could see if any of these parts fails to work properly it could stop the washer from squeezing the water out of the clothes properly.
