The snubber ring is made of a plastic like Teflon. The purpose of this ring is to keep the drum assembly on the middle when the washer is spinning.

A lot of people replace the drum assembly supporting springs thinking that this will take care of the problem, to find out that the problem is not the springs, but it is the snubber ring.
