If the problem with your GE Hotpoint electric dryer is that is not starting in any of the cycles, in other words the dryer is dead. The problem could be a bad motor.
The motor is the work horse in the dryer. It is used to turn the drum to tumble the clothes, and to complete the heating element circuit.
The motor switch could be bad preventing the motor from doing anything, or the motor could start ok, run for one load, and then only hums and don’t start.
The easier way to learn how to check & replace the motor, is by seeing how it is done.
