If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is that is heating but is not heating properly. In other words the dryer is getting too hot or not getting hot enough, you will need to check the following parts until you find out what is the cause of not heating properly.

Taking apart: The first thing that you need to learn to be able to fix your Performa electric dryer, is how to take it apart and put it back together again properly.

When you know how to dismantle the dryer, every repair becomes easier do. The hardest thing to do when making a repair is dismantling the dryer.

So my advice to you is, learn how to dismantle and put the dryer back together properly, before trying to do the repairs.

Blower Wheel: The job of the blower wheel is to circulate the air through the dryer. It is coupled with the motor shaft, so when the motor runs, the blower runs with it. So if the dryer is not drying properly, the problem could be the blower wheel.

If the threads in the blower get stripped or the vanes are broken. The blower wheel is not going to be able to do its intended job. To see how to check & replace the blower wheel in a Performa electric dryer, view the video below

Drum support rollers:  These washers use two drum support rollers on the back drum support panel.

These rollers have a metal bushing on the center of the rollers. The metal in the bushings is a softer metal than the metal on the rollers shaft. The purpose of this is for the bushings on the rollers to wear out instead of wearing the shafts.

When the shafts eat all the metal on the rollers bushings, the rollers start to ride on the plastic and makes a lot of noises.

Drum front glides: If your Performa electric dryer starts to make scraping noises when the drum is turning, the problem could be that the front drum glides or slides are worn out.

These glides or slides are made of two strips of Teflon plastic that the front of the drum slides on top of them. To see how to check and replace them, view the video below.

Drum Seals: If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is that there seems to be a big gap between the drum and the back and front walls, and the clothes are getting stuck. The problem could be a worn out rear drum seal.

The best way to learn how to remove and replace the rear drum seal is by seeing how it is done. To see how to check & replace the rear drum seal in a Performa electric dryer, view the video below

Drum Baffles: If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is not tumbling the clothes properly and is making rattling noises. The problem could be a loose or broken drum baffle.

The drum baffles are made of plastic and are attached to the tumbler to stir and separate the clothes when the drum tumbles.

Sometimes they become loose or even break. The best way to learn how to check and replace them is by seeing video on how is done.

Motor replacing: If the problem with your Performa electric dryer is that is not starting in any of the cycles, in other words the dryer is dead. The problem could be a bad motor.

The motor is the work horse in the dryer. It is used to turn the drum to tumble the clothes, and to complete the heating element circuit.

The motor switch could be bad preventing the motor from doing anything, or the motor could start ok, run for one load, and then only hums and don’t start.

The easier way to learn how to check & replace the motor, is by seeing how it is done.
