Idler Spring Switch

GE Hotpoint Electric Dryer

If the problem with your GE Hotpoint electric dryer is that is not doing anything in any of the cycles. The problem could be a bad idler spring switch.

The idler spring switch is a safety device that is activated or deactivated by the idler pulley.

When the belt is ok, the idler pulley is in a position that the belt switch is turned on and the motor can run.

And when the belt breaks, the idler pulley is pull down by a spring, and it turns the belt switch off, and the motor can’t run.
