The drum baffles are located inside of the tumbler and are used to keep the clothes separated when the tumbler turns around.
They are made of hard heat resistance plastic. Most dryers use 3 baffles and they are attached to the drum with 3 screws each.
The major problem with them is that when the screws get loose, the baffles start to make clanking noises and eventually the break and then you need to replace them with new ones.
The solution to prevent them from breaking, is to tighten the 3 screws when you hear them making clanking noises.
To tighten the 3 screws do the following. Disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet, remove the 2 screws under the cover of the lint filter and open the top panel.
Using a 1/4 inch nut driver or socket wrench tighten the 3 screws on each baffles.
