Not Draining Performa Washer

If your problem is a not draining Performa washer, you will need to check the following parts until you find out the part that needs to be replace to fix the washing machine.

Here I am going to give you a brief description of the parts you need to check, and below you will have the links to the pages with the videos that will show you how the repair is done.

Obstructions: If the problem with your Performa washer is that it fills to the selected level, agitates properly, but is not removing the water at all or is only removing it partially.

The problem could be an obstruction somewhere between the tub and the drain hose.

You will need to bail out the water from the tub, and make sure that there is no water left on the tub to pump hose and the pump to drain hose.

Make sure to get a couple of towels to clean any water spills on the floor when disconnecting the hoses. To see how to check & remove any obstructions in a Performa washer, view the video below

The Pump: If the problem with your Performa washer is that is not removing the water from the tub, is leaking water, or is making noises like metal rubbing against metal, the problem could be a bad pump.

The impeller bearings inside of the pump wear out in a few years of use, and the pump start leaking water and making metal to metal grinding noises.

To check out the not draining Performa washer do the following. Pull the washer out a little away from the wall, lean the washer against the wall, make sure is secure and is not going to fall on top of you, derail the belt from the motor, transmission, and pump pulleys.

Turn the pump pulley by hand, and put a little pressure to the sides when turning it if it feels like is rubbing metal to metal, or is has movement side to side the pump is bad, and must be replace.

Siphoning: If the problem with your Performa washer is that when you set the water level to the higher setting, the washer fill half way and then it keeps filling forever without reaching the higher level. The problem could be that the water is siphoning out of the washer after it reach the middle of the tub.

1. Set the water level switch on the higher setting

2. Set the timer on the beginning of a cycle and turn the washer on

3. Remove the drain hose from the drain pipe and lift it higher than the top of the washer

If the washer fills to the higher setting and it starts to agitate, the problem is water siphoning out to the drain pipe

To correct the siphoning, you need to make the drain pipe higher that the top of the washer

Or ad a piece of hose to the drain hose and loop it so is higher than the top of the washer
