The
job of the Whirlpool washer water level switch is to
control the amount to water that the washer is going
to take in before it starts to wash.
The amount of water that the washer is going
to fill with, depends on the setting that you select
on the water level switch.
Let’s
say that you select the regular cycle, when you pull
the timer knob out, electricity will flow through
the timer pull - push switch and continues to the
machine water level switch through the
violet wire.
When
the washer is empty the contacts V and P inside of
the water level switch supposed to be close,
allowing the electricity to flow from the violet
wire through the pink wire to the water temperature
switch.
To
check the water level switch make sure that the
washer is disconnected from the wall outlet and
empty of water.
Remove the two screws on the controls head board to
gain access to the water level switch.
Remove
the wire harness from the switch and take a reading
with your ohms meter between the terminals marked
V and P. The reading should be close to 0
ohms.
