If the Whirlpool electric or gas dryer is not tumbling, the clothes will stay in one place inside of the tumbler and they will not dry out. If you notice that the clothes are not drying after you let them run in the dryer for at least one hour, check for a broken belt in the dryer.
How to check the belt: This is the easiest way to check to see if the dryer is not tumbling. Set the timer on the regular time dry cycle, open the dryer door, turn the door switch on by pushing it in and holding it in.While holding the door switch actuator in, press the push to start switch to turn the dryer on. Look inside of the dryer to see if the dryer is tumbling or not. If your dryer is not tumbling, most likely the dryer has a broken belt. How to replace the belt:
- Remove the two screws under the lint filter
- Open the top panel
- Remove the two screws holding the front panel
- Lift the corners of the front panel and remove the panel
- Use a piece of wire coat hanger to hold the tumbler in place
- Set the belt over the tumbler, make sure to put it
with the ridges facing the tumbler
- Install the idler pulley and the belt on the motor pulley
- Install the front panel, and the holding screws
- Lower the top panel and install the screws under the lint
filter cover
