Obstructed exhaust hose: The most common cause why the dryer takes too long to dry the clothes is because the exhaust hose gets obstructed. The obstruction could be a kinked hose behind the dryer or a hose that is clogged with lint.
The Operating thermostat: The next cause could be the operating thermostat not opening & closing at the temperature they suppose to.
They could open too soon or they could open too late.
If the exhaust hose is clear and the dryer takes too long to dry the clothes, the easier thing to do is to replace the operating thermostat. You don't have the thermometer to check the dryer temperature.
The blower wheel: Another thing to check is the blower wheel. The blower supposed to circulate the air inside of the dryer.
The lint filter: Also you need to make sure that the lint filter is clean and the air duct that the filter goes in to, must be also clean.
The dryer has to take air from the outside, pass it through the heating source, then through the inside of the dryer and exhaust it to the outside.
The timer: Burnt contacts inside of the timer could not be closing when they supposed to causing the heating element to be turn off when it supposed the on the on position. This will cause the dryer to heat erratically.
As you can see, there are many reasons for a dryer heating irregular. |
