Take a reading between the terminals marked machine & motor in the lid switch with the washer door closed. The reading should be 0 ohms. If the reading is infinity, the switch is bad. A bad lid switch could be the cause for the Maytag top load washing machine not starting. The timer line switch If the lid switch is ok, then you will need to check the timer line switch. To check the timer line switch do the following. Set the timer on the regular cycle and pull the knob to turn the timer line switch on. Take a reading with your ohms meter between the terminal marked LS in the lid switch wire harness and the wire marked L1 on the cord connecting block. The reading should be 0 ohms. If the reading is infinity, the timer is bad and that could be the cause for the Maytag top load washing machine not starting. The cord The cord is what connects the washer to the wall outlet. A loose connection between the cord plug and the wall outlet, could be could be the cause for the Maytag top load washing machine not starting.
