The GE washer water valve is the part where the two fill hoses
connect to the washer and is located behind the washer.
This water
valve has two ports to connect the fill hoses. The job of the water
mixing valve is to allow the water that the temperature switch is
calling for.
The typical water mixing valve use two solenoids to open the
water ports, one for the hot water and the other for the cold water.
When both solenoids are on, the washer will fill with warm water.
If your washer has trouble filling with cold or hot water, the
first thing to check is the water valve screen filters. The screen
filter are use to collect the water sediments. Sometimes, specially
if you use well water, the filters get clogged with sediment
blocking the flow of water into the washer.
Shut the water faucets and disconnect the fill hoses and check
the screen filters. Clean them if you can or replace them if you
must.
The GE washer water valve solenoids could be checked for
continuity with a multimeter. They could be good electrically, but
the valves may not close properly and this could cause water leaks.
Crack body and crossed threads are the major cause why the
water valve have to be replaced often.
We hope that this GE washer water valve page be of help to you.
