The GE washer water temperature switch is in charge of controlling
what temperature water will enter your washer.
The typical switch
has three settings, hot, cold and warm water. The switch will
activate two solenoids in the water mixing valve.
To get hot water
the switch will send electricity to the hot water solenoid and to
get cold water the switch will send electricity to the cold water
solenoid.
When you select warm water, the switch sends electricity to the
two solenoids allowing hot and cold water to mix and becoming warm.
Some GE washer water temperature switches may use more that three
settings for different temperatures.
If the problem with your washer is that it won't take in cold or
hot water and the water mixing valve is ok, check the water
temperature switch.
You will need to use your wiring schematic to see what contacts
should be close during each selection on the switch.
We hope that this GE washer water temperature switch be of help
to you.
