"How to check & replace the water level switch in a GE front serviceable washer"

Home Questions Useful Links Parts

The GE washer water level switch is in charge of allowing the amount of water in to the washer corresponding to the selection on the switch.

The switch uses a plastic hose that connects from the switch on the controls panel to the lower side of the tank.

The switch is activated with air pressure and sometimes is called a pressure switch.

Let me explain how the GE washer water level switch works, here it goes. When the water tank is empty, the water level hose is full of air, when the washer starts filling with water the air is pushed through the hose and the air pressure activates the water level switch.

The higher the selection on the water level switch, the more pressure it will take to activate switch.

The GE washer water level switch is a single pole double throw switch. It starts on the filling position and when the air pressure is strong enough the switch is tripped to the agitation mode.

We hope that this GE washer water level switch page be of help to you.
