The GE washer cord is the main line to connect the washer to the
electrical wall outlet. The cord has three prongs, the live one, the
neutral one and the ground one.
The major problem with the cord is
the the plug terminals burnt out. If the problem with your GE washer
is that is dead, won't do anything, check the cord plug for burnt
terminals.
The reason that the GE washer cord terminals burn out is a loose
wall outlet. When you find the the terminals on the cord plug are
burnt out, before replacing the cord, you will need to have the wall
outlet replace as well.
If you need to replace your GE washer cord because the connecting
plug is burnt out, you could order a new replacement cord and
install it, or you could get one of those Grey appliance extension
cords that are rated at 15 amps and cut the bad cord and splice it
to the old cord.
I recommend to solder the connections to make sure that it is a
good connection and use good electrical tape or insulating shrinking
tube.
If you are going to use the extension cord to repair your cord,
make sure to do a good job to minimize the chance of fire hazard. If
you are not sure that you could do a good splicing job, get a new
cord.
Another way to correct the burnt cord plug is to replace the
plug. You could buy a heavy duty cord plug and replace the burnt
one.
We hope that this GE washer cord page be of help to you.
