These are the parts that need to be in good working order for the GE-HP washer to be filling good with cold, hot, or warm water.
The water supply to the washer: I have gone on many service calls, that the customer complaint was, that the washer did not fill with water.
When your washer won't fill, the first thing to do is to check and make sure there is water coming to the washer water valve.
Turn the water faucets off, remove the two fill hoses from behind the washer, put the hoses in the sink and hold them good, open the water faucets to see if water comes out.
May times the reason why your washer is not filling is because someone has close the faucets with out letting you know.
The voltage at the wall outlet: The easiest way to make sure that there is 120 volts at the wall outlet is by disconnecting the washer and connecting any other electric appliance, if they work, then you know that the wall outlet is not the problem why The GE-HP washer is not filling.
The timer push/pull switch: The push-pull switch turns the timer on or off when you push or pull the timer knob. Sometimes when the contacts are worn out, if you wiggle the timer knob, the timer may work for a while. When this happens it is time to replace the timer.
The water level switch: After the electricity passes through the push-pull switch, it reaches the water level switch.
When the washer is empty, contacts 7 and 15 on the switch are close. This allows the electricity to flow through the water level switch to the water temperature switch.
The water temperature switch: From the water level switch the electricity travels to the water temperature switch.
On the water temperature switch the electricity is directed to the water mixing valve solenoids, according to the selection on the switch.
A bad water level switch or water temperature switch could be the reason why your washer is not filling.
The water mixing valve: The water mixing valve is in charge of allowing the water in to the washer tub according to the temperature selected in the water temperature switch.
When one of the solenoids in the water mixing valve is bad, the complete water valve assembly must be replace.
A bad water mixing valve could be the reason why the GE-HP washer is not filling properly.
