There are a lot of parts that could cause your GE dryer to make noises.
You will need to listen to noises to determine where in the dryer the noises are coming from. Below I will try to explain the most common parts to check.
The front drum bearing:
The front bearing is a plastic semicircle that has about 4 teflon slides on it.
The front of the drum rides on these slides. Worn out front bearing slides could be why your GE-HP dryer is making noises.
When the slides wear out, the drum start to wear out the plastic and the dryer will make scrapping noises.
The rear drum bearing:
The rear drum bearing uses a teflon sleeve that prevent the metal stem of the rear bearing to run metal to metal.
When the teflon sleeve wear out, the dryer will make a squeaking noise like birds
trapped in your dryer.
The blower wheel:
The blower wheel is attached to the motor and its job is to circulate the air inside of the dryer drum.
If any article fall into the blower it could make noises or it could break the blower vanes.
This will cause the blower to run of balance and the dryer will make a vibrating noises.
The motor:
The motor worn out bearings could be why your GE-HP dryer is making noises.
As you can see, there may parts that could make your dryer noisy. Each one of those noises is trying to tell you that a part is in need of been replace. |
