If the problem with your GE Hotpoint electric dryer is that is not heating or not starting, the problem could be a bad 4 prongs power cord.
The first thing that you need to check is the cord plug. Make sure that the terminals are not burned. Burned terminals are cause by a loose connection to the wall outlet. When this is the problem, you need to replace the power cord and have the wall outlet replace as well. If you only replace the cord and not the wall outlet, the cord will burn again.
If the cord plug looks good, the next thing you need to do is to disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet, remove the terminal block cover, and check the cord wires at the terminal block to see if they are burned or not.
If any of the wires are burned, you need to replace the power cord.
